    A native of Commenor, Torvin Taylor was the son of an Imperial guardsman, one of Palpatine's most loyal bodyguards during the early years of the New Order. Torvin won an appointment to the Imperial Academy at Cardia and there met the woman who would later become his wife, Marie Dargan, who was also in training. He graduated with honors and was soon assigned to the Dreadnaught Hammer Blow as a junior lieutenant. He rose through the ranks swiftly and soon was given his own command. During this time, he married Marie Dargan and they soon had a child, whom they named Kingston.
    Torvin was soon transferred from the Hammer Blow to the Imperial-II class Star Destroyer Iceheart and assigned to a fleet under the command of his brother-in-law, Vertil Dargan. During his time he achieved the rank of Admiral and was notorious for his loyalty to his commander and the New Order. He honestly cared for his family-his wife and daughter; brother-in-law, niece, and sister-in-law. This changed abruptly after the death of Palpatine. Torvin became crafty and bitter, no one knew why. He earned a reputation for ruthlessness, but his loyalty to Vertil Dargan never wavered; when Dargan became a Warlord, he remained to serve under him. When Dargan died, Torvin and his wife Marie came into the guardianship of young Imperial Governor Tegan Dargan. Torvin is the girl's cardinal protector and top advisor.
    Unbeknownst to all, the source of Torvin's bitterness and disillusionment was the knowledge that his beloved Kingston had been captured by Imperial forces as a spy for the Rebel Alliance and confined to Caraban prison where she was made an experiment of an Imperial scientist named Sydress without his knowledge or permission. For this, Torvin carries a heavy grudge against Sydress and a certain Sith for whom the scientist works from time to time.
    Taylor has since learned of his daughter's marriage to Republic officer Robert Drake and her two children by him.  He still refuses to believe that the Rebel Alliance did not brainwash his beloved daughter.
