    Born the youngest child and only daughter of Dervin and Mya Vidind, Ashal Vidind grew up a tomboy on the world of Corulag. Her upbringing was modest-her father was a freighter pilot and her mother was a homemaker. Ashal was engaged to a young man on Corulag when she won an appointment to the Imperial Academy at Cardia. She broke off the engagement and became an Imperial officer.
   She spent years as a commando under the command of non-human commanders before her talent and skill was finally recognized by an Imperial Admiral and he requested her to be assigned to his command.
   Ashal distinguished herself and rose to the rank of General under Vertil Dargan. She became one of his most trusted officers and the commander of all of his ground forces.
   She never married, nor did she ever have children. The elite commando squad she leads, she says, are all the family she needs.
